Additional Projects
- Developed concepts and preliminary budgets for GMP Excipient powder handling and filling processes.
- Updated a 1970's technology based plant control system to state-of-the-art system. Recommended and installed a plant-wide process control infrastructure using Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers and General Electric Intellution IFix Human Machine Interfaces. This system is currently being expanded for statistical process control implementation.
- Facilitated a team network to increase a client's production capacity by 15% in a six month period with only a small investment. This allowed the client to quickly meet new unexpected customer demands.
- Achieved documented cost savings of $0.9M on a $4.5M dollar client product line by improving yields, increasing efficiency, and reducing rejects.
- Converted a plant from reactive to pro-active maintenance by installing a computerized maintenance management system, work order planning process, parts inventory management process, and reliability engineering.
- Designed and implemented the world's first production-scale Boron isotope cryogenic distillation system. This product is used in the chip making industry.
- Designed and built a catalytic reactor to convert carbon monoxide to methane gas.
- Designed and built a catalytic reactor to convert ammonia to nitric acid.
- Invented an explosion-proof packaging and bottle capping system for a specialty chemical manufacturer.
- Converted a label making process from manual "cut and paste" to a desktop publishing software. This reduced the cycle time for label making from days to hours and eliminated production delays.
- Developed and installed the first automated process for accurately controlling mica based pearlescent pigment production rate. The process is currently being patented.
- Evaluated means for improving fermentation, liquid-liquid extraction, ion exchange, drying, classification, and crystallization of citric acid.
- Upgraded performance of packed tower-type scrubbers and heat exchangers.
